[BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THIS TINY ARTICLE GOT "THE CANCER CHRONICLES" BRANDED IN THE JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION AS AN "IAT PROPONENT" PUBLICATION! SEE ALSO ARTICLE ON QUACKHUNTERS--ED.]

Dr. Lawrence Burton, one of the most colorful and controversial figures in the alternative field, died on March 8 [1993], at the age of 66, in Freeport, Bahamas. He suffered a heart attack. His Immuno-Augmentative Therapy (IAT) cancer clinic, which has treated over 4,500 people, will remain open under Dr. R.J. Clement. Burton developed IAT at St. Vincent's Hospital, New York in the 50s. In 1967, he made mouse tumors disappear before an ACS Seminar. Widely opposed, he left for the Bahamas in 1977.
