Crucial Web Sites

Here are links to some other Web sites of note to people dealing with cancer. The following are what we consider "crucial" links, i.e. reliable sites you can use to begin your search for effective cancer treatments:

CancerGuide This is the celebrated Steve Dunn cancer site. Steve is a long-term survivor of kidney cancer, who created and maintains this comprehensive site for other patients. It has a wide variety of information, orthodox and unorthodox, on cancer treatments. Steve is not afraid to give his personal views. Very worthwhile.
University of Texas This is the site of the University of Texas Center for Alternative Medicine Research in Cancer. This is one of ten centers established by the Office of (Complementary and) Alternative Medicine, and co-funded by the National Cancer Institute. The principal aim is to evaluate the efficacy of biopharmacologic, herbal and natural products for cancer control and prevention. Secondary aims are to establish an international network of alternative medicine providers. An excellent scholarly site.
Columbia's Rosenthal Center Columbia University's Rosenthal Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, an OAM grant recipient. Its objectives include providing information to practitioners, researchers, and the public about alternative and complementary therapies. It is well on its way with this excellent, content-rich Web site, authored by Jackie Wootten. Very worthwhile.
Prostate Pointers If you need information about the prostate, this attractive site could be a godsend. Webmaster Gary Huckabay has provided the Internet community with a full spectrum of information about prostate problems, including prostate cancer. He is careful not to pass judgment about any information source; all are treated equally. At this locale, you will find the Web site of six outstanding prostate cancer clinicians, including Stephen Strum, M.D. You will also find hard-to-come-by information on Dr. John Holt's microwave treatment. A truly admirable effort.

Richard Evans

Richard Evans, M.D. is an experienced Houston surgeon who devotes himself to rationality in the field of cancer treatment. He believes that in many cases "less is more," and that it is not always necessary or desirable for patients to undergo radical surgery or other highly invasive procedures. The American Journal of Surgery has said that Dr. Evans's book, Making the Right Choice, "is excellent....[It] challenges surgical tenets which were once etched in stone." His Web site gives samples from the book and other material on this outstanding doctor.
