General Medicine Web Sites

Here are links to some other Web sites of note to people dealing with cancer. The following are reliable sites you with information of a general nature about cancer:

Positive Health Magazine The Positive Health magazine site www.positivehealth.com is a complementary health web site, which provides valuable information, through full length articles, interviews, research updates, hundreds of links etc. Well-laid-out and easy-to-follow it covers almost all areas of complementary medicine, and is written by practitioners, doctors, and other leaders in their respective fields.
Aesclepius Medical Site Excellent site from Greece. What I liked best was the "Public Information Page," with well-documented information on various possible health dangers. These include the sweetener aspartame, mad cow disease (16 articles), etc. Well written in English and full of important information. From here you can also link to "Greek Doctors in Cyberspace"...which sounds like a Saturday Night Live routine but is actually very informative.
Health News Naturally  This magazine is maintained free of charge by Keats Publishing, one of the pioneers in health publishing in the U.S. It contains lots of interesting info on new developments in prevention, with articles on estrogen, herbs, et cetera.
Ontario Guide  This very comprehensive "Guide to Unconventional Therapies" was written by the Ontario Breast Cancer Information Exchange Project (OBCIEP), adapted by the Atlantic Breast Cancer Information Project (ABCIP) and funded by Health Canada. It provides public access to a wide range of health and medical information, but does not attempt to give medical advice or interpretation.
COHIS  The Community Outreach Health Information System of Boston University Medical Center. This site offers one-page summaries of a number of alternative treatments in an attractive, easy-to-use format.
 Cancer & Natural Medicine
John Boik is a licensed acupuncturist who developed a strong interest in the effects of natural medicine on cancer patients. He realized that the comprehensive textbook he was looking for did not exist, and so he went out and wrote Cancer and Natural Medicine. The book contains a wealth of information on such topics as initiation and proliferation of cancer, apoptosis, the effects of pH on neoplasia, and the like. This site contains ordering information, plus a number of useful articles. A layperson's version of the book is due out this year.
