5. These sites offer valuable information that you might find helpful in your quest:

Natural Health Village Want the latest news on political developments affecting the cancer field? Then check out this attractive, well-organized site. You can also subscribe to their free bimonthly Natural HealthLine. Veteran activists Michael Evers, Peter Barry Chowka (see below) and others have created a center for political action around freedom of choice. It has a strong (but not exclusive) interest in cancer. Although passionate defenders of alternatives, their discussions are factually reliable. Very worthwhile.
Peter Barry Chowka Peter Barry Chowka is one of the few journalists who has followed the cancer war from its inception. His work is now found at Natural HealthLine (above,), of which he is associate editor. Peter has consistently pointed out the hollowness of the official version, and been especially incisive about the role of the establishment media. He is also largely responsible for the renewed interest in the Hoxsey treatment. At this excellent site you will find his articles and speeches over the last 25 years. The Internet at its best!
Canadian Reports Comprehensive, easy-to-understand information packages on six prominent alternative cancer treatments that are often used by women with breast cancer. Reports on Essiac, 714X, Iscador, hydrazine sulfate, green tea, and the combination of vitamin A, C and E. Brought to you by the Canadian "cancer establishment." These reports are objective and mildly positive on some treatments. Problem is that the writing is boring and the site is difficult to navigate. Worth a look.

Cancer URLs

The Guide to Internet Resources for Cancer. A well-organized guide to over 1300 different Internet sites devoted to cancer. An astonishing accomplishment, maintained by Simon Cotterill of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. A great jumping off point for a universe of information about cancer treatment and research.

MedSearch(tm)

Need Chelation in Key Largo or a High Colonic in the High Sierras? This site might help you find what you're looking for. Veteran medical mavens Arline and Harold Brecher have put together a remarkable site that contains not only their "National Examiner" health column, but this innovative MedSearch(tm) service, which helps you locate an alternative practitioner in almost any locality.
Chiroweb Looking for a chiropractor? This site will help you find one in almost any locale in the world. They can find you one by either zip or area code. You can send E-Mail to some of these and there is even a Coupon icon to click on to get a special FREE OFFER for new patients.
U.K. Holistic Search From Acupressure to Zero Balancing, this site gives you access to hundreds of practitioners of alternative medicine in the United Kingdom. You have to select a Speciality and a Category. You can also select a sort order, and even specify individual search criteria for certain details. Well organized.
Carcinogens Not everything causes cancer, but there's a long and growing list of suspected agents. Here's the word from the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the U.S. National Toxicology Program on dozens of known, probable and possible carcinogens. Read it and weep.

Acupuncture.com

Many people find acupuncture useful in relieving intractable pain and other health conditions. This is a very attractive, helpful and well-organized site, from which--among many other things-- you can find an acupuncturist almost anywhere in the world.

USDA Food Center

The Food and Nutrition Information Center of the USDA. A cornucopia of government information. Which amino acids are present in Brazil nuts? How much magnesium in 100 grams of celery? The possibilities are endless at this USDA site that calculates the nutritional value of foods. Ask for carrots and it offers you 23 different kinds. Helps to dispel many myths.
The Tumor Board The Tumor Board is highly regarded, but not for everyone. It contains hundreds of color photos of tumors--gross images (in both senses of the word) and microscopic slides. Doctors submit their most interesting, representative or unusual cases. If you are a pathologist or are simply fascinated by what pathologists do, this is the site for you. It also serves as a registry of on-line doctors around the world who can provide second opinions in their areas of expertise.
Counsulespace Counsulespace Life Insurance and Resource Center is a Canadian company that offers life insurance to cancer patients and others who might have difficulty getting it. They also offer a large directory of social service organizations for Atlantic Canada. Worth a vist.
